Doors come in number of shapes, sizes and styles. Flush doors are flat on both sides.Panelled doors have recessed sections, often edged with mouldings. Cottage doors are made from planks are known as battened doors. There are also glass doors which allow different stylish choices.
Most of our doors are engineered which makes them more stable where moisture and expansion related to that moisture is concerned. Below are pictures of a cross section of one of our hardwood doors showing the perfect construction and high quality of a mortise and tenon engineered hardwood door:
We also offer a few solid timber hardwood doors.
Mortise and tenon versus dowelled doors – these terms refer to the joints used in door construction. In simple terms a mortise and tenon joint consists of a 'tongue', (the tenon) that slots into a hole (the mortise) cut in the mating piece of timber. Mortise and tenon (M&T) joinery is used for almost any project that has frame construction and needs to be as strong as possible, which makes it the preferred type of joinery for external doors.
It is well known fact that doors and windows play an important role for thermal insulation. It may proof a great energy saving potential, if your doors are well insulated. Our door fitters will make every effort to insulate your external doors and as an additional service we offer thermal insulation of your existing doors.
We are able to offer you a wide rage of doors of different sizes and styles. All doors are engineered but some solid doors are available on request. Please note that most of our doors are unfinished and we recommend that they should be sealed (painted, varnished,stained) immediately after installation in order to protect them from soiling and swelling.
